Job Opportunity: Art Director for Culinary Content


At Dish Works we are a passionate group of creatives that love food and love to make beautiful content. The Art Director for Culinary Content is a key part of the creative team, working both on-site and remotely to create content for Dish Works clients

Responsibilities and Duties:

Art Direction / Styling

  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients
  • Thoroughly understand each client's brand, visual style and marketing goals
  • Thoroughly understand visual team's requirements and needs
  • Lead production team in planning successful photo and video shoots
  • Create client creative briefs, shot lists and shoot scripts for creative team
  • Communicate actively with creative team to ensure they have resources needed
  • Arrive early on shoot days to prepare photo/video set and get production team set up for success
  • Provide on-site food, prop and set styling for photo and video shoots
  • Fuse your own vision and ideas with client needs and project requirements
  • Supervise culinary team, videographers, photographers and editors to ensure deliverables are aligned with creative brief and client needs
  • Readily assist the team with the organization and cleanup of studio before and after shoots
  • Review photo and video edits during post-production to ensure final assets meet client expectations

Creative / Culinary

  • Continually expand culinary expertise and stay informed about of culinary trends
  • Develop custom recipes to align with client and project needs
  • Provide culinary feedback and recommendations for recipes and scripts
  • Answer basic culinary questions from client and team


  • Participate in weekly team update conference call
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors
  • Accurately record work activities in tracking systems
  • Strive to improve efficiency and effectiveness of assigned tasks
  • Adhere to company standards and expectations in employee handbook and periodic reviews

Qualifications and Skills:

You could be a good fit for this position if…

  • You are located near and work on-site at our Lancaster, PA studio
  • You can demonstrate experience with and have examples of your culinary and visual style
  • You have a flexible schedule during weekdays, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. (no weekends / evenings)
  • You have extensive knowledge of food and drink and culinary terms, techniques and trends
  • You have passion and curiosity for continued learning to stay current with trends in food and drink
  • You are an active communicator with good listening skills and clear and concise writing skills
  • You are highly organized and excel at managing projects and timelines
  • You are prompt and punctual
  • Preferred: You have project management experience, ideally in the areas of photography and video
  • Preferred: You have photography experience, ideally with food and drink photography
