There’s a thrilling new development here at Dish Works studio. We recently invested in a huge upgrade to our gear arsenal, and it’s bringing a major level-up to our production capabilities.
Meet our new robot!

More specifically, our new camera robot system, a best-in-class German model engineered for maximum precision and high-speed motion control. It’s sleek, strong and powerful, and it’s already helping us deliver wildly stunning content for our clients at a fraction of the cost of big production houses.
Why is this such a game-changer?
In an oversaturated sea of visual content, consumers’ attention is not easily snagged. Dynamic motion is a surefire way to stop the scroll and make your products truly pop. Robotic arms can enable shots that would be difficult or impossible to achieve with handheld cameras.
We’re talking:
- Unreal precision: Our videographers can program the robotic arm to follow repeatable, fluid motion paths. That means achieving the exact same movement every single shot. It’s extremely tough for even the best videographer to do this with a handheld setup.
- This precision is especially crucial for enhanced content and VFX shots, like stop-motion sequences, where consistency is paramount. Our robot also “talks to” our food launcher, for hyper-accurately timed shots.
- Unmatched movement: Our robot has a 6-axis arm and a reach of 4’10”. It can rotate, dolly, pan and tilt, all in one fluid movement.
- Practically, this means we can create cinematic, gravity-defying shots, like pinpoint-precise push-ins, orbit shots, weaving through small spaces and custom dolly-crane combos that a human hand could not replicate without shake or drift.
- Spectacular slo-mo: Our robot arm can operate at high speeds and, when paired with high-frame-rate cameras, can create super slow-motion work.
- This is perfect for shooting fast-moving subjects, like a splash of water or a citrus squeeze, with millisecond timing precision.
- Programmable perfection: Once programmed, our robotic arm can repeat identical shots, great for batch shooting, split screens, or automation of multi-product shoots.
- This saves tons of time during reshoots or iterations for food, product, or tabletop content.
- Super versatility: There is no camera built into the robot, but instead a plate to mount a camera. This allows us to attach different cameras and lenses based on the needs of each client’s shoot.
- We’ve also recently acquired a Chronos 4K12 high-speed camera that can shoot up to 1397 FPS at full 4K (4096 x 2160) resolution. Paired with the robot arm, this allows us to record impressive detail in moments invisible to the naked eye, ideal for commercial product launches, fluid dynamics or artistic impact shots.
Why is it great for our clients that Dish Works has a camera robot system?
Robot arms are usually found on large commercial production sets. Large commercial sets usually involve a massive crew and equipment rental fees coming in at thousands of dollars a day. That adds up so quickly that brands are forced to spend a Super Bowl budget on every production.
Honestly, it’s rare for a studio of our size to have a robot arm in-house. But, especially with the market uncertainty that so many brands are facing right now, we felt it was important to offer this high-end equipment feature to our clients. This means your brand can now accomplish all of its visual asset production — including commercials and TV ads — at Dish Works. It’s all part of our commitment to offer the best and most beautiful visual assets to brands at a competitive price.
Now, no matter how grand or granular your marketing vision, our incredible photo/video, culinary and art direction teams can make it a reality. Working with a team that creates culinary content every day is a far more seamless process than wrangling a team of freelancers. Where big studios are hectic, high-pressure and expensive, Dish Works is streamlined, straightforward and efficient.
Making beautiful assets for brands is all that we do. There are no food content Olympics, but if there were, we’re going for gold!
